Swedish Avantfolk. 21 musicians involved. Everything from clarinet to congas, flutes, drums, glockenspiel, even tuba, Nice arrangements, one song got whole parts of Kurt Weill in it, even if not stated. I estimate by the way they are singing that two or three songs with many people singing together are a bit annoying politclasswar stuff. Doesn’t matter: Monica Zetterlund sings very beautiful - mostly alone – and the other nine or ten tracks, especially the calm ones, are amazing.

First thought: clean fat Funk, Pop and emotional Grooverock together in a package that fits for stadiums as well as for car driving or for assurance TV-commercials. OK, her voice got tons of soul, very deep - no doubt … already started to like it. And then suddenly the first of four very slow minimal tracks with a magic cajun or even Postrock Antifolk-feel that are fuckin awesome. Maybe I keep it.

The lineup of the band is Sim Cain (drums), Chis Haskett (guitar), Henry Rollins (vocals) +Andrew Weiss (bass). The GORE side is recorded live at “De Bakkery” Eindhoven, Holland June 9th 1987.
