A-side is one song: „Alice’s Restaurant Massacre“ which lasts for 18:20 min. and what you hear is him (the son of Woody Guthrie) telling a story while playing all – yes all the time – the same accoustic guitar lick … sorry, but how sick is this? How far can you go? No, in fact I really like the concept. Like the 9500 people who had to listen to the „song“ at Newport and were totally exited about it. Overwhelming applause.

Irish Folk. Half of the songs are instrumental. Psych through constant repetition of insane flute, bazouki, and violin melodies. Mindtwisting – you don’t know your name anymore after listening to this for half an hour. Drums/percussion are rich in variety and simple, yet very effective, fast and tribal. Played by the so called „Percussive Powerhouse“ Johnny „Ringo“ McDonagh, who’s also famous for his bone-playing! The songs with vocals are sad and hypnotizing, vocals are female.

Written around 1702 to 1706, Guilain’s Oeuvre became first public in 1906. It is played by André Isoir. The four pieces are „Suite du 1er ton“, „Suite de 2eme ton“, „de 3eme“ and „de 4eme tone“. It’s a deep and dark psychedelic trip.

Each side one long track. „Sun Eclipse“ and „The Wheels of History are rolling on“. Drugged Psychedelic Progressive sound, the guy is apparently totally crazy – playing all instruments by himself (and there are many: piano, fender piano, clavinet D6, polymoog, minimoog, micromoog, sonicsixmoog, davolisint (?), concert spectrum, bass guitar, japan banjo, guitar 6 and 12 strings, organ, hammond organ, bass, marimba, drums, kettledrums, cymbals, gong, triangle, tambourine, cowbell, vocal, applause)

This is a crazy collaboration, mostly punchy but nevertheless mindtwisting tracks, you might even dance to it. Not the kind of destroyer-jungle you’d expect from mu-ziq, not the kind of - yes i call it zerfaserte Kunst - you’d expect from Richard D. James.

Late 70ties Discosound with Soul influences, Phillysound to 70ties Funk with tons of female backup vocals, straight forward four to the floor bassdrum. Well made, sounds totally american. Even the typical superlow male voice in dialogue with a female singer. Nicely layered, sometimes reduced and sometimes full arrangements with (even latin) percussive elements, guitars, strings, sometimes a little bit of brass-section sparkling in. Very good musicians. Incl. cover versions of „California Dreaming“ and „Proud Mary“.
